Tamegroute | SUN Candleholder

from €119.00

We’ve been collaborating with Said since the very beginning of Nora Khereddine Objects, and his creations continue to amaze us every time. Said carries on the tradition of his ancestors from Mali, crafting pottery in Tamegroute, a town nestled at the edge of the Moroccan desert. Here, amid the breathtaking landscape, he creats stunning candleholders, bowls and other beautiful pieces. The clay he uses is sourced from a palmerie just outside town, dug from a depth of ten meters. The shaped pieces dry for 24 hours in his workshop and once dried, they are fired in traditional kilns built into the earth, with wood chips and local palm fronds serving as the fuel. The final step involves glazing the pieces with a blend of stone powder and metals, before firing them once more. The result is a stunning range of colours – from warm mustard yellow to deep, rich blacks – each piece unique, reflecting the magic of the region and its ancient craft.
